New Flooring Trends You Might Want to Look Into

Darker Colors

In the recent past, there has been an increasing trend of choosing darker colors for the floors, like walnut, ebony or black stain. There has also been a huge shift from the red or yellow undertones towards cool or gray undertones. The sleek and solid look that darker colored floors provide, give your rooms a rich and modern look. However, you need to keep in mind that darker colors need more cleaning, as even a little dust would be quite visible on the darker colored floors.

Wire Brushed Floors

In the times to come, there will be more and more emphasis on textures and patterns, and wire brushed floors are the best example for the latest styles in textures. They are considered a counterpart of hardwood. Wire brushed floors have elegantly understated texture that us usually achieved by wire brushing to expose the heartwood to the surface. This gives the floor a vintage look, which generally brings out the true character of the wooden textures.

Grays of All Kinds

Whether you choose wood, tiles, or vinyl floors or any other material, gray flooring has taken over many other trendy colors in the recent years. This trend seems to stay popular in future as well. The demand for the variety of tones has increased even more and homeowners go out seeking blends of the same colors or colors that look good together in contrast. Whitewashed grey is another popular choice, because it adds as naturally aged and worn out look that really highlights the beauty of natural wood.

Low Luster or Matte Finishes

Looking at where most of the trends are headed in the past few years, the semi glossy and glossy finishes have started to appear lesser often whereas low luster finishes such as satin and matte are rapidly gaining popularity. This is because they not only are easier to maintain, but also because they maintain their looks for a longer period of time.

Wider Wood Planks

This might not seem as true as the rest but it is a relatively newer trend in the flooring market recently. The thin wood strips appear to be losing their popularity when compared to wider wood planks. One apparent reason for using the wider wood planks is that they make the room look more spacious and bigger. For decades until recently, thin wooden strips were most commonly used in floorings but now, relatively wider wooden planks are mostly preferred.

Farmhouse Style

The rustic look that imitates that of a farmhouse style has also gained quite attention in the past few years. The farmhouse looks portrays some flexibility in terms of color, width and flexibility of the planks used in the flooring. Some planks reflect more character and are also popular among various buyers these days as they represent a vibe of simpler living and authenticity.
