Why You Shouldn’t Dismiss Laminate Flooring
Tuesday, March 10, 2015
Whether you were the one doing the talking, or you read it on another shady flooring blog, people tend to give laminate a bad rap. While every flooring choice has its benefits and its drawbacks, there is no reason to dismiss laminate simply because it isn’t hardwood or simply because it isn’t a costly selection. Everyone’s needs and budget are different when it comes to a renovation or a remodeling project. Always eager to offer you the most enchanting floor choices, this blog post is dedicated to highlighting why laminate floor just may be your best all-around option.
An enduring floor choice
You read that right! Laminate isn’t made of actual wood per se, but that doesn’t mean this floor can’t handle a busy lifestyle. In fact, laminate is one of the most indestructible floors available. It’s resistant to scratches and dents. So if Fido hasn’t had his nails trimmed or if you have a clumsy family member who tends to drop things, this floor can handle it. Plus, there’s no need to worry about how the elements impact this floor. Laminate not only is resistant to elements from the great outdoors like mud and dirt, but it also won’t fade when it’s exposed to sunlight. So place this floor in your room that receives the most sunshine, because it’ll have the same color for years to come!
Easy maintenance
Don’t let the naysayers discourage you; laminate isn’t difficult to care for. Of the multiple layers of laminate, there is a top wear (or protective layer) that can protect the whole floor from stains and spills. Do act fast when you have an accident though; it is easy to clean up a stain, but you don’t want it sitting around nonetheless. While other floor choices may require a cleaning ritual that calls for cleaners and chemicals, that isn’t the case with laminate. A quick run of the vacuum or a simple sweep of a broom and you’re done. Dropped a cup of water or spilled another liquid? That’s no problem either. Just a damp mop (do not use a sopping one) can clean up spills. Plus, unlike hardwood floors, laminate floors require no waxing. So kick back and relax because cleaning will take half the time it used to.
What moisture?
Accidents will happen. It’s a fact of life. But when a toddler spills that cup of juice (because she just started drinking from a non-sippy cup), it’s a relief to know that the juice won’t affect your laminate floor. That’s right, laminate is resistant to stains. So give your toddler all the grape juice she wants, because again, cleanup is easy. Along with this, laminate floors can be installed in areas of high moisture. Other floor materials don’t do well in moist spaces, as they can be damaged by water. Laminate can’t tolerate standing pools of water, but this enduring floor choice can be installed with a moisture barrier in place making it suitable for moist spaces and to be installed above almost any surface. Bathrooms, kitchens and over concrete, plywood, vinyl and even wood — these are all places that laminate fares well in.
You aren’t limited to one design or color
It may have been that way in the past, but laminate is no longer limited to one color. Today, laminate can mimic the colors and patterns of countless species of woods. In our own collection, you can choose from hickory, acacia, oak, walnut and merbau. Among these varieties of woods, we offer numerous colors that range from the lightest blondes to the darkest browns and even have grays and reddish colors in between. All of the options we carry in laminate have realistic grains and textures to create the elegant design you want. With laminate, you’re able to recreate the high-fashion look of hardwood at an affordable price.
Budgets vary from person to person and from home to home. Just because your budget doesn’t permit you to afford the most expensive hardwood doesn’t mean you can’t find an exceptional floor choice for your home. Laminate is the perfect floor to give your home an enchanting feel for the right price. So next time you’re browsing floor options, don’t let what others have said influence you; if you feel laminate is the right fit for your home, then go for it! Besides, who wouldn’t want to pass up on all these benefits?
